Since none of us could be at the AFL Grand Final this year, Mike Brady who normally kicks off the day’s festivities sang a special version of Up There Cazaly just for St Mary’s!
St Mary’s players receive recognition at NFNL awards!
A huge congratulations to Noah Stanley for winning the NFNL Best & Fairest in Division 2 – Reserves!
What a fantastic effort, and the whole club is very proud to see one of our own be recognised by the league!
We also want to congratulate Tane Cotter for making the Senior Division 2 Team of the Year, and being one of the top goal kickers with an impressive 28 goals to his name!

Building a strong community: Thanking local businesses for their support!
Today was supposed to be our Presentation Night which would have included a silent auction to raise funds for the club.
We did consider a virtual auction, but given everything happening recently and especially this week, we have decided to postpone it until early next year where we hope to hold the auction in person.
In the meantime, please support the awesome businesses that have already contributed to our silent auction!

SMFNC Presentation Night
Unfortunately we have had to cancel our usual end of season celebration next week due to COVID restrictions.
In it’s place, this Friday we will be hosting a virtual event where we will count down the votes from the 2021 season and announce our Best & Fairest winners across all football and netball teams!
We are also looking at having an in person event early next year so we can all celebrate together!
To help you celebrate at home, our generous sponsors Nillumbik Cellars are donating a percentage of profits from St Mary’s sales back to the club.
All you have to do is stop by to purchase refreshments wearing some St Mary’s gear or show your membership card to staff this week.

R U OK? Day 2021
Today is R U OK? Day, a national day of action where we are all reminded to ask our mates ‘Are you ok?’ not just today but every day, to support those struggling with life’s ups and downs.
A conversation could change a life, so we are encouraging all St Mary’s players, members and supporters to check in on at least one of their mates today.
R U OK? have a great range of fantastic resources to help people meaningfully connect and lend a helping hand – you don’t have to be a mental health expert!
To help you have a conversation, we have put some of the most useful resources below:
- Guide to asking R U OK?
- R U OK? Guide for sporting coaches
- Learn the signs it’s time to ask R U OK?
- Take the quiz to see if you are prepared for an R U OK? conversation

SMFNC supports Women’s Health Week
This week is Women’s Health week, which is dedicated to fostering good health and wellbeing for women and girls.
This is a great reminder for everyone to check in on all our mum’s, grandma’s, sisters and girlfriends that show up every week to watch our teams play and keep the club going by running the canteen, cooking meals and so much more!
However, remember that good health starts with you. So to all the women out there, also set aside time this week to focus on your own health and wellbeing. Make an appointment for a health check, do a workout or catch-up with a friend even if it is over Zoom!
Watch a special message from Netball star Geva Mentor below!
Visit the Women’s Health Week website for more information: https://www.womenshealthweek.com.au
Celebrating the dad’s that are part of our Club!
Happy Father’s Day to everyone celebrating today (as much as we possibly can in lockdown!).
Thanks to all the awesome dads that are part of our club and show up every week to support our teams or volunteer by cooking BBQ’s, running the bar and much more!
