Supporting the Pat Cronin Round 2025

This year we will again participate in the Pat Cronin Foundation Round.

This round is a powerful moment to honour Pat Cronin, a young man whose life was
tragically cut short by a coward punch while trying to protect a friend. Pat’s story is a stark reminder of how a single act of violence can have devastating consequences.

This week, our players will be wearing the yellow ‘Be Wise’ armbands to show our commitment to building safer communities.

Club President Mark Stanley shared the importance of this round.

“At St Mary’s, we are committed to creating a safe, positive environment—and that starts with respect for our teammates, opponents, and officials. Violence is never the answer, and each of us has a role to play in preventing it. So this week, I encourage everyone at St Mary’s stand united in support of the Be Wise campaign to End the Coward Punch.”

Get your RSA for Free

Keen to work in hospitality or just help out behind the bar at the club? Now’s your chance to get your RSA!

We’re hosting an RSA course Tuesday 29 April from 7pm, and we’re opening it up to both club members and the wider community.

It’s free for junior and senior club members, we just ask you to commit to a few bar shifts this season. Non-affiliated participants can complete the course for $100.

All participants will receive pre-course work in advance. The amount of time required on the night depends on whether this is completed beforehand:

  • 1 hour if the pre-work is completed online prior to the session
  • 2.5 hours if the pre-work is not completed before the session

Completing your RSA isn’t just a box to tick—it opens doors. It provides extra earning opportunities and boosts your employability across a wide range of industries including bars, restaurants, cafes, and event venues.

Livio Basile receives Volunteering Award

We’re so proud that our very own Livio Basile was honoured with a Jaga Jaga Community Volunteer Award from Kate Thwaites MP.

Livio has been the heart and soul of the St Mary’s community for over 30 years. From boundary umpire to Junior Club President, Senior Club founding member and still today the bar manager and U19s Team Manager, he’s done it all.

Thank you, Livio — we’re lucky to have you!

Welcome our new Team Managers

We’re excited to introduce our newest volunteers, Jon Benson and John Carbis, who are joining us in key roles this year!

Benson will serve as Senior Men Team Manager, while Carbis takes on the role of Reserves Team Manager.

Both of them have always been active contributors to the club, snd we thank them for stepping up to volunteer this year.

Volunteering is the heart of our community, and it’s inspiring to see more people giving their time and energy to help out.

We’d love to see even more people get involved and make a difference in 2025!

CLUB RECORD: Daisley celebrates 200 games

Congratulations to Nic Daisley on 200 games with St Mary’s

A true legend and the first player in senior club history to hit this milestone.

From his junior days to now, Nic has been loyal to St Mary’s played an incredible 250 games across both clubs.

He’s was part of our first premierships, a multiple-time runner-up in our B&F, and is loved by everyone around the club.

As Club President Mark Stanley shared, “Nic is a reflection of everything we stand for. His relentless commitment and passion has been evident from day, and his impact on and off the field is something that can never be measured in stats.

Thank you Terry

After over 30 years of dedication, Terry Derham is stepping down from his volunteer roles at St Mary’s.

From his first days as a team manager back in 1991 to coaching, being awarded Life Membership, leading the senior club as the first secretary, and being Team Manager up until now, Terry’s work has shaped the heart of our community.

Terry’s passion for the club run deeps, and he has created lifelong friendships and always brought smiles to our faces.

His commitment is a reminder of the vital role that volunteers play in community clubs and we hope others continue to follow in his footsteps.

Here’s to a true legend of St Mary’s.

A strong season launch

Today marked an exciting start to the season, with a fantastic turnout from our community.

We welcomed new players to both netball and football and introduced our leaders for 2025. A big thank you to our major sponsors, Luke Pearson from Cold Concepts and Aleks Todarov from AES, for presenting the jumpers.

Our footy coaches shared their insights, and there was a netball update to keep everyone in the loop.

We can’t wait to see what the season holds! Take a look at the photo gallery below.
