Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2023

Today marks the start of NAIDOC Week.

This year the theme is ‘For Our Elders.’

Across every generation, Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role and hold a prominent place in our communities and families.

They are cultural knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers and our loved ones.

Our loved ones who pick us up in our low moments and celebrate us in our high ones. Who cook us a feed to comfort us and pull us into line, when we need them too.

They guide generations and pave the way for us to take the paths we can take today.

We pay our respects to the Elders we’ve lost and to those who continue fighting across all our Nations and we pay homage to them.

In the spirit of NAIDOC Week, we encourage everyone to take a look at the ways to get involved below and encourage reconciliation.

Pushing for better mental health

Huge congratulations to the amazing players and coaches that completed the Push-Up Challenge!

Our 21-strong team, organised by Marcus Taranto, completed 51,164 push-ups and raised $1291 for mental health charities Lifeline and Movember.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped us surpass our initial $1000 goal! Together, we’re making a difference and supporting those who need it most.

Men’s Health Week

Today marks the start of Men’s Health Week, which focuses on the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of men and boys.

  • 97% do not consume the recommended serves of vegetables
  • 71% do not consume enough fruit.
  • Appoximately 50% of men are insufficiently physically active

That’s why this year’s theme is ‘Healthy Habits,’ aiming to encourage men and boys to make small changes to their daily routine that benefit their health and wellbeing.

Remember, self-care is not selfish—it’s essential!

Let’s use this Men’s Health Week as an opportunity to prioritise our well-being and inspire others to do the same by sharing our #HealthyHabits
