Today is R U OK? Day. Life can throw a lot at us in a year, a month, or even a week. Whether it’s a friend, family member, colleague, partner, or teammate, the people you care about face ups and downs daily. By having regular, meaningful conversations, we build trust and make it easier for those around us to share what they’re going through.
Football Director, Greg Hanlon, shared the importance of R U OK? in a sporting club.
“Sport brings us together and teaches us the value of teamwork, but it’s also important to remember that the pressures of both sport and daily life can weigh heavily.”
“As a team, we must look out for each other and make checking in a regular part of our routine. By asking ‘R U OK?’ and truly listening, we create a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and can be their best on and off the field.”
So, while R U OK Day is our National Day of Action, remember: Ask R U OK? Any day of the year. A simple conversation can make a world of difference.
